At first, I thought of Ulysses as a very heroic man who was always looking for what was best for his crew. However, within a few pages I realized that he could at times not be perfect. For example, when he attacked the Ciconians he soon regretted it. But, he still is showing heroic qualities throughout the book.

I think that my first impression was bad because he just cares about his life. Also when the cyclops cave he said i Ulysses did that to you so Pylophemous wished to posiden to make his years misserbal and for him to be for gotten.

I think that Ulysses has gone through so much and is still able to see what is best for his men. However, when I saw that he went to go attack the Ciconians at the beginning I though that he was very greed. In conclusion, although my first impressions on Ulysses were not very good, I think he is a great character now.

I thought of Ulysses as a jerk and self centered. In the beginning of the book Ulysses and his crew were trying to take over towns and they stole everything possible. Ulysses and his men through out the book were greedy because they wanted to be rich, so they filled up the whole ship with gold and they were starved because of it. Ulysses is always trying to get by the consequences by using the gods to help. I believe Ulysses is a jerk!

I also thought that Ulysses was not very smart because, during the chapter Cyclops Cave, he told the cylops his name, which wasn't smart. Since he did that, his way back home was long and trecherous because the cyclops asked his father, Posideon, to curse Ulysses.

My first impression of Ulysses was bad because when we were first reading about him we read that he was tricking people. He tricked the cyclops into getting drunk. He tricked the trojens into thinking they were getting a gift but it was just his men. I think Ulysses is mean and rude. I think he is very GREEDY because he steels and doent care about others. He only cares about himself and what he gets out of messing with people for himself. -Jayme

In my opinion Ulysses is selfish and cruel because him and his men loved gold so they filled there ship with gold instead of with the things they needed like food, water, and clothing. Also when he sees people with food they are all greedy children and ask for it.

When I first started reading the book. I thought Ulysses was a greedy jerk because all he wanted was gold and treasure. He stole and invaded most of the towns. He overcame this when he ran into the mermaids. In order to keep the boat from sinking he threw some gold over board starting with his.

my first impression of Ulysses is that he's very brave and a risk taker. I thought he was greedy in the beginning and just wanted to use his shipmates to find gold and treasure. but he invaded most of the towns. after he ran into the mermaids he overcame this. he was so thoughtful and helpful by throwing some gold overboard to keep the ship from sinking. I also notice he was being very smart by telling Pholyphemus his name is ''NOBODY''. so when the other Cyclops asked who blinded him the name would be nobody. :)

My first impression of Ulysses was that he was a very strong, brave man that could conquer anything. The further I get into the book, he still is very strong and brave. Ulysses is also a risk taker and takes many risks that could cost his life. By telling Polyphemus that Ulysses name was nobody, he was being smart. This was a smart idea because then Polyphemus couldn't tell any of the one eyed giants what his name was and where to find him. He was brave because he stood up to the Cyclopes.

My first impression of Ulysses was that he was a risk taker. Though he was always willing to take a stand for his shipmates, he was also very selfish.
My first impression of Ulysses was I thought he was a strong courageous man but when I got deeper into the story I saw how he was sometimes clever at some times and also a very risky risk taker. In chapter 4 I finally saw those traits because he risk his life and his crew of being eaten by the huge giant Cyclopes. >_<

I also agree because no one could have gone through a cyclops eating their best friends or even a crew. And telling the cyclops that his name was nobody was super very clever no one would have thought about anything like that.

My first Impression of Ulysses was a nice person, Like he was a Thinker, Risk Taker and Principled! But when you get really deep, that's when you notice his dark, Bad, Cruel ways then you see that his Pride gets the best of him sometimes. When my class got finished reading Chapter 4 from the book, Ulysses showed us his Generous side, but the fact that he told Polyphemus he changed his name from nobody to Ulysses! Not a lot of brave people would do such a thing that! only someone Brave could do it!
