At first, I thought of Ulysses as a very heroic man who was always looking for what was best for his crew. However, within a few pages I realized that he could at times not be perfect. For example, when he attacked the Ciconians he soon regretted it. But, he still is showing heroic qualities throughout the book.
I didn't like it I don't like him
I think that my first impression was bad because he just cares about his life. Also when the cyclops cave he said i Ulysses did that to you so Pylophemous wished to posiden to make his years misserbal and for him to be for gotten.
I think of a warrior when I hear of Ulysses and a men who protect his people.
I think that Ulysses has gone through so much and is still able to see what is best for his men. However, when I saw that he went to go attack the Ciconians at the beginning I though that he was very greed. In conclusion, although my first impressions on Ulysses were not very good, I think he is a great character now.
I agree entirely!
I agree as well
You guys all make very interesting points.
I thought Ulysses was a jerk at first. He really bothered me. He still bothers me. Ulysses was a jerk and still is to be honest.
he bothers me too
how is he a jerk
I think he is a jerk too
i think he is a jerk as well he tricked the cyclops saying his name was nobody
That's like killing someone who was going to shoot your entire family, and then people calling you a jerk for killing the guy
I agree. At first I thought he was a jerk but, now I don't really think he is a jerk.
I thought that Ulysses was the bad guy in the story at first because he stole and killed and plotted and schemed.
I thought of Ulysses as a jerk and self centered. In the beginning of the book Ulysses and his crew were trying to take over towns and they stole everything possible. Ulysses and his men through out the book were greedy because they wanted to be rich, so they filled up the whole ship with gold and they were starved because of it. Ulysses is always trying to get by the consequences by using the gods to help. I believe Ulysses is a jerk!
he is not self centered
and if he is tell me how
I also thought that Ulysses was not very smart because, during the chapter Cyclops Cave, he told the cylops his name, which wasn't smart. Since he did that, his way back home was long and trecherous because the cyclops asked his father, Posideon, to curse Ulysses.
do you know how many people he out smarted
I know, but at first I thought he was not that smart.
I thought Ulysses was a bad, bad man because he was very, very mean when he poked out the Cyclops's eye. So I think he is a big fat JERRRRRRRRKK!!!!!
I agree because he was selfish and.....stupid? Also dont say the same word twice ty!
My first impression on Ulysses was that he was a bad guy and that he was greedy. Now that he has gone through all of the challenges, he know is a better person in my opinion.
*now* not know
My first impression of Ulysses was that he was a bad and mean fellow. To be honest I think he still is bad and mean. Actually he isn't really mean he is just a really big trickster.
Well, at first I thought that Ulysses was a theif. But in the end I proudly stand corrected. :)
I Agree He Attacked Villages And Took Gold Just Because He Wanted To But Now All He Wants Is To Get Home.
My first impression of Ulysses was a bit jerkish. I have to agree with Araceliz because it was rude to stab Polyphemus, the Cyclops, in the eye.
I don't really like Ulysses. He seems kind of lame and evil. He seems like if i met him he would kill me on sight. And I don't think he has people skills. He is going to need theropy after this killing and stabbing people in the eyes.
My first impression on Ulysses was that he was a very bad man. also he was a trickster. for an example he tricked the ghost Ajax. So i don't like him
And Ulysses turned out pretty cool.
My first impression of Ulysses was bad because when we were first reading about him we read that he was tricking people. He tricked the cyclops into getting drunk. He tricked the trojens into thinking they were getting a gift but it was just his men. I think Ulysses is mean and rude. I think he is very GREEDY because he steels and doent care about others. He only cares about himself and what he gets out of messing with people for himself. -Jayme
all of yall are wrong about ulysses
I thought Ulysses was brave, cool, caring, and awesome. I thought that because he always cared about his group and always made sure they were ok. He was brave because he stood up to the cyclopse.
In my opinion Ulysses is selfish and cruel because him and his men loved gold so they filled there ship with gold instead of with the things they needed like food, water, and clothing. Also when he sees people with food they are all greedy children and ask for it.
When I first started reading the book. I thought Ulysses was a greedy jerk because all he wanted was gold and treasure. He stole and invaded most of the towns. He overcame this when he ran into the mermaids. In order to keep the boat from sinking he threw some gold over board starting with his.
my first impression of Ulysses is that he's very brave and a risk taker. I thought he was greedy in the beginning and just wanted to use his shipmates to find gold and treasure. but he invaded most of the towns. after he ran into the mermaids he overcame this. he was so thoughtful and helpful by throwing some gold overboard to keep the ship from sinking. I also notice he was being very smart by telling Pholyphemus his name is ''NOBODY''. so when the other Cyclops asked who blinded him the name would be nobody. :)
I agree with you and he was being a risk taker
My first impression of Ulysses was that he was a very strong, brave man that could conquer anything. The further I get into the book, he still is very strong and brave. Ulysses is also a risk taker and takes many risks that could cost his life. By telling Polyphemus that Ulysses name was nobody, he was being smart. This was a smart idea because then Polyphemus couldn't tell any of the one eyed giants what his name was and where to find him. He was brave because he stood up to the Cyclopes.
My first impression of Ulysses was that he was a risk taker. Though he was always willing to take a stand for his shipmates, he was also very selfish.
YAAAASAS I TOTALLY AGREEE
My first impression of Ulysses was I thought he was a strong courageous man but when I got deeper into the story I saw how he was sometimes clever at some times and also a very risky risk taker. In chapter 4 I finally saw those traits because he risk his life and his crew of being eaten by the huge giant Cyclopes. >_<
I also agree because no one could have gone through a cyclops eating their best friends or even a crew. And telling the cyclops that his name was nobody was super very clever no one would have thought about anything like that.
my first impression was a shy little dude with not much of a voice, but it turns out he does a lot in the story and hes not really shy.
I agree because Ulysses in the beginning was a coward. Also, when he fought the Cyclops he sort of got a cheap shot.
My first Impression of Ulysses was a nice person, Like he was a Thinker, Risk Taker and Principled! But when you get really deep, that's when you notice his dark, Bad, Cruel ways then you see that his Pride gets the best of him sometimes. When my class got finished reading Chapter 4 from the book, Ulysses showed us his Generous side, but the fact that he told Polyphemus he changed his name from nobody to Ulysses! Not a lot of brave people would do such a thing that! only someone Brave could do it!
You may be wondering what I think of Ulysses? Well, I think that he is Ok.
Wasn't That the Best Answer You've Ever Seen?!?!?!?
i thought t it was about god trust or something lame but i realize it about a someone try to make it home
what I first thought of the adventures of Ulysses was that it was going to be about super powers and stuff like that and like with lots of wars between other gods and stuff I I thought it was going to be something like mudesa because of the skelloten on the front cover of the book on the side of the mans face
I think he was being a risk taker
My first impression of Ulysses was a very honest, tall and hardworking person maybe even a little optimistic, now I don't know if he is the total opposite of what I thought at first, but I am excited and willing to find out!!!
me too amiyah
In chapter 4 the cyclops cave was super good that showed me other different traits about Ulysses and showed me that anyone could be a risk taker
he is smart
ULYSSES IS SMARTER THEN EVERY ONE ON THE BOOK
my first impression is that he is a jerk
I liked him.
my first impression was that he was a strong man that like was going to save every body.
I think it was bad he just care about his life and nobody else also I think that some thing bad is going to happen to him because he going to do bad to somebody and they are not going to like it so they are going to want revenge so they are going to try to kill him
my first impression was that he was a smart man but could be selfish at times
my first impression was that he was a proud selfish man
at first he was good and trustworthy and self consistent, but the thought is that he lied to someone and did something really stupid well I thought it was stupid, and he left in my opinion I think he is not going to make it where ever he is going I think that he is not going to be safe I think that someone will try to kill him on his way where ever. and he is going to get payback for what he has done and what goes around comes around.
my first impression is I did not like him cause he only cared about himself.
well my first impression was that he was really brave.
My first impression of Ulysses is he was brave. When he made that horse, he was being brave. He was stepping up to the challenge. Even though that was my first impression, that wasn't my final one. He was real dumb and stupid once you actually get into the book.
